baking
i baked a pumpkin pie yesterday, all from scratch!! pumpkin pie is SOOO good. not mine. mine was ok. definitely need more practice. but yum yum, hot pie with ice cream is the best!! (i'll post a picture as soon as i find my phone.) i need to figure out:
1) how to make a better pie crust
2) how to make the filling less gingery. the good thing about the filling was that it wasn't too sweet.
but dude, i couldn't find where anything was. the mixer, the spatula, the can opener, etc etc... i was looking everywhere, and my apartment is not that big, so there's not that many places to look. but dude, if i'm a pack rat, my mom is even worse! i was so tempted to call my mom to ask her where things were, but it was still 2 AM in korea, so i decided to hold off on that and search some more. :) i eventually found the mixer in the bottom of the closet (don't ask me why it's there), the spatula i made do with a spoon, and for the can opener, i went to the game room kitchen and used their can opener.
but overall, i think it was ok. it took forever to bake though. i couldn't figure out when it was done. it's so hard to tell with pumpkin pie because it's supposed to be mushy in the first place. i invited some people over to try some (my guinea pigs, muah-ha-ha) and watched lost. yesterday's episode of lost wasn't that great. but speaking of tv shows, ugly betty and how i met your mother are 2 other shows that i've added to my list. they're great tv shows!
having the place to myself for awhile is great! i miss living by myself and being able to invite people over at random times without worrying about my parents. not that i don't invite people over when my parents are around, but it's just different when they're around. the place just seems so much smaller :)
