a woman's limits

from albert mohler's blog, entitled "So There Are Limits After All"

"In the United States, the average age of first marriage for a woman is over 26 -- already well into her years of peak fertility. Add to that the impact of the contraceptive revolution and the fact that most of these women delay childbearing even further."

"the fertility crisis for women is a crisis of delayed marriage and delayed motherhood. Women have been sold a lie -- that they can have it all. The hard reality is that none of us, male or female, can have it all. Scientists have recently discovered that male fertility also declines with age [see this article.]"

"An ideology of autonomous individualism, false confidence in medical technologies, and new habits of human living and human sexuality contribute to the problem."

very interesting read.

why? here's why?

1. i probably do have an ideology of autonomous individualism. i'm truly enjoying my singlehood right now and feel that i don't need men in my life to do things for me. for example, if need be, i can probably change my own spare tire now. (*knock on wood* haha) but seriously, i love my independence right now. maybe a little bit too much. i know. it has been something that i occasionally think about. and despite it all, i do try to let men be men. if they want to hold doors open for me. go for it! before, i used to hold it for them, but not much anymore. and i let them carry the heavy stuff, etc etc.

2. definitely don't have a false confidence in medical technology though. working in the healthcare field, i know what's really going on. hehe =)

3. most importantly, according to this, i am well into my years of peak fertility. haha.
